最終話第12話「日比野カフカ」あらすじ
怪獣8号の正体がバレてしまい、防衛隊に拘束されてしまったカフカ。
有明りんかい基地では、怪獣8号と功の戦いが続いていた。
大怪獣の力を自在に操る功は、かつて防衛隊史上最強とうたわれた実力をいかんなく発揮する。
しかし、カフカの制御を失った怪獣8号は、圧倒的な力で功を追い詰めていく。
キコルの目の前で父親を殺したくないという思いから、何とか怪獣８号を制御しようともがき、何とか功を殺さずに怪獣の力を抑え込んで、カフカは気を失う。
そのころミナは聞き取りを受けていた。
カフカを生かすべき名殺すべきかという点について、カフカがいいやつであるという事実を述べていく。
「日々のカフカを信用する理由は彼の心です」 と言い切るミナ。
そして第三部隊の基地ではミナがカフカを心配して落ち着かないでいた。
レノはもくもくと筋トレに打ち込み、伊春にカフカが心配じゃないのかと問われて
「先輩を守れるようになるために強くなりたい」
と答える。
そんなカフカを案ずるみんなの元にカフカの死刑は保留の知らせが届く。
四宮功の決断は、カフカは怪獣である、が今のところ敵ではないというものだった。 カフカを戦力として活用していくという決断に至ったのだ。
そんな知らせを聞いて、キコルは今度カフカが暴走したときのために強くならねばと誓う。
そして、保科はカフカはこれから防衛隊内の反対派も世間も黙らせるほどの実力を見せないといけない、もっと大変になるぞ、という一言…
そして逃がしてしまっている怪獣9号の反撃の準備が整ったというような不穏な一言で最終回となりました。

カフカを怪獣化させたハエのような怪獣がなぜ怪獣を殺したいのかまでは分かりませんでしたね。
とはいえ、最終話で私の推しキャラでもある、第一部隊隊長・鳴海弦が登場しました。 鳴海は功がカフカと戦っている際に有事があったら突入できるように控えていたのです。
最終回に出してきたということは、これは続編だな、と思ったのですが早速続編決定していましたね。
実際にカフカが防衛隊員として怪獣の力を使ってみんなを助けていくシーンが今後もっとたくさん見れる！ カフカに引っ張られてレノやキコル、ミナに保科までどんどん強くなっていくのでそちらも楽しみです！
続編制作を伝える映像では「第1部隊出動だ。蹴散らすぞ」という鳴海のかっこいい声が聞けるので是非見てみてくださいね。

[Anime] Kaiju No. 8 Episode 12: "Hibino Kafka" Summary
At the Ariake Rinkai Base, the battle between Kaiju No. 8 and Naruki continues. Utilizing the power of the giant monster at will, Naruki unleashes his full potential, once hailed as the strongest in Defense Force history. However, Kafka's out-of-control Kaiju No. 8 overwhelms Naruki with its sheer power.
Driven by the desperate desire to save his father from Kaiju No. 8's clutches in front of Kikoru's eyes, Kafka struggles to regain control of the monster. He manages to suppress its power without killing Naruki, but collapses from exhaustion.
Meanwhile, Mina undergoes an interrogation. She defends Kafka's life, emphasizing his good nature.
"The reason I trust Kafka on a daily basis is because of his heart," Mina declares firmly.
Back at the Third Squad's base, Mina is consumed with worry for Kafka. Reno silently engages in intense training, and when Izumi asks if he's not concerned about Kafka, he replies,
"I want to become stronger so that I can protect my senpai."
News arrives that Kafka's execution has been put on hold, much to the relief of those who care about him.
Naruki Hoshino decides that Kafka is indeed a monster, but not an enemy for now. He has come to the conclusion to utilize Kafka as a fighting force.
Upon hearing the news, Kikoru vows to become stronger in preparation for Kafka's next potential rampage.
And Hoshina leaves a parting remark, warning Kafka that he will need to prove his worth to the point of silencing both the opposition within the Defense Force and the general public. He adds an ominous note that the preparations for the counterattack of the escaped Kaiju No. 9 are complete.
The chapter ends with a sense of unease and anticipation for the upcoming conflict.
[Anime] Kaiju No. 8 Episode 12: "Hibino Kafka" Review
We still don't know why the fly-like monster that transformed Kafka into a kaiju wants to kill other kaiju. However, the final chapter did bring back my favorite character, Captain Izumi Narumi of the First Unit. Narumi was waiting in reserve in case something happened during Kou's fight with Kafka. The fact that he was brought back in the final chapter means that there must be a sequel, right? And indeed, a sequel has been announced! I can't wait to see more scenes of Kafka using his kaiju powers to help everyone as a member of the Defense Force! I'm also looking forward to seeing Reno, Kikoru, Mina, and even Hoshina getting stronger and stronger as they are influenced by Kafka! In the video announcing the production of the sequel, you can hear Narumi's cool voice saying, "Unit 1, deploy! Let's scatter them!" So be sure to check it out! Right now, the manga's spin-off is also running a story about Narumi's past, so please be sure to read it too! Narumi is awesome!
